BJP slams Mamata for attending carnival amid North Bengal flood tragedy

Kolkata, Oct 5 (UNI)The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today launched a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of choosing to attend the Durga Puja carnival in Kolkata instead of visiting flood-ravaged North Bengal, where more than 20 people have lost their lives.

State BJP president Samik Bhattacharya, who is scheduled to visit the affected areas tomorrow, told UNI, "We cannot expect any humanitarian gesture from this government. When people are dying in North Bengal, the chief minister is busy with her carnival. She should have left everything aside and stood beside the people."

Arguments on Sonam bail case conclude, Meghalaya HC lists matter for June 9

Shillong, June 8 (UNI) The Meghalaya High Court today heard the arguments of both against and in defence of Sonam Raghuvanshi, prime accused in the murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi, and listed the matter for Tuesday.
The single bench of Justice Wanlura Diengdoh heard the argument of S. Thapa, the legal counsel for Sonam, who has concluded his argument, challenging the criminal petition filed by the State government seeking revocation of the bail granted to Sonam by a lower court.
