PM Modi inaugurates railway projects worth over Rs 1700 crore in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Sep 27 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched and dedicated to the nation a series of railway projects worth more than Rs 1,700 crore, marking a significant stride in strengthening Odisha’s infrastructure and connectivity.
These projects aim to improve passenger convenience, bolster freight operations, and stimulate economic activity across the region.
At the ceremony, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for a rail flyover between Sambalpur City and Sarla (Rs 273 crore). This project will ease congestion at Sarla station and ensure uninterrupted movement of trains on the busy Sambalpur–Jharsuguda line, a crucial corridor for coal, mineral, and industrial freight. The initiative is expected to benefit residents of Sambalpur and adjoining areas.

Odisha engineer posted in tribal areas arrested after Vigilance uncovers assets worth crores

Bhubaneswar, June 7 (UNI) Odisha Vigilance on Sunday arrested an engineer of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) after unearthing assets allegedly disproportionate to his known sources of income, including cash worth Rs 2.04 crore, officials said.
The accused, Baikuntha Nath Behera (52), Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) with the ITDA at Baliguda in Kandhamal district, was arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act and is being produced before the Special Vigilance Court in Bhubaneswar.
