24 exotic animals rescued by Mizoram police

Aizawl, May 30 (UNI) Mizoram Police officials on duty at the Mizoram-Tripura border Kanhmun Police Check Gate in Mamit district seized a large number of exotic animals on Saturday, a state police department press release said on Thursday.
The press release said that the police personnel intercepted one Maxi Cab, which commutes between Aizawl and Agartala, bearing the Tripura state registration number at the Kanhmun check gate. The vehicle was driven by Chawngthanmawia (32) of Tudui village in Amapur District of Tripura, who is also the owner of the vehicle.
The vehicle was thoroughly checked, and exotic animals comprising 18 snakes, four turtles, and two monkeys were recovered inside the maxi cab and seized from him accordingly. The driver stated to his interrogators that one Binoi Molsom, aka Sanga Molsom, sent the parcels containing the exotic animals from Zodin Bus Stand, Aizawl, Mizoram, and told him to deliver the parcels to one Sumo (maxicab) at Zo Sumo Travels Counter in Agartala, located at Samuli Bazar, GB Agartala.
