Mizoram district bans ferocious dog breeds for 60 days

Aizawl, Aug 1 (UNI) The magistrate of South Mizoram’s Lunglei district, R. Lalthazuala, has issued an order banning the keeping, importation, sale, and breeding of several dog breeds considered ferocious and dangerous to humans.
The order, issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) on Wednesday, will be in effect for 60 days. Violators will face penalties under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The ban includes 22 exotic dog breeds: American Pitbull Terrier, Dogo Argentino, American Bulldog, Mastiffs (Boerbulls), Rottweiler, Wolf dogs, Bandog, Tosa Inu, American Staffordshire Terrier, Fila Brasileira, Boerboel, Kangal, Central Asian Shepherd Dog (Ovcharka), Caucasian Shepherd Dog (Ovcharka), South Russian Shepherd Dog (Ovcharka), Tornjak, Sarplaninac, Japanese Tosa & Akita, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Canario Akbash dog, Moscow Guard dog, and Cane Corso.
