'People of Jiribam are the most broad-minded,' says Manipur CM

Imphal, Apr 4 (UNI) In a significant step toward restoring harmony, Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Saturday stated that Jiribam has created history by becoming the first district in the state where all communities have come together on a common platform after three years of unrest.
Addressing a “Community Interaction Programme” held at New Alipur Rongmei Naga Village, the Chief Minister said that his government’s return to Jiribam for the second time within two months reflects the importance of the district in the peace-building process. He lauded the people of Jiribam for their inclusive mindset, remarking that they are “the most broad-minded in the state.”
During the programme, the Chief Minister interacted with internally displaced persons (IDPs) from multiple communities, including Meitei, Kuki, Paite, and Hmar. Several individuals shared their concerns, highlighting ongoing challenges. A Meitei woman expressed fear about returning home, while a young Hmar girl spoke about the lack of employment opportunities in backward areas.
