Cong firm on Rahul's event in Darbhanga, Section 144 imposed

Darbhangaa, May 15 (UNI) Defying the permission of the administration to conduct Rahul Gandhi's students dialogue programme at town hall in Darbhanga, the Congress taking a U-turn was adamant to hold the event at Ambedkar Kalyan Hostel, Mogalpura in the district.
Prohibitory orders have been imposed under Section 144 in the entire campus, officials said.
District magistrate Rajiv Roshan said here on Thursday that the administration granted the permission to conduct the event at town hall following a written request made by MLC and former state president of Congress Madan Mohan Jha.
Roshan said that due to security reasons, the Ambedkar hostel was inappropriate to conduct Rahul's event . No such programme was held in any of the hostels across the country, he said, adding that this will generate a negative impact upon the students.
The DM said the organisers have already been informed about it and the programme should be held at the venue permitted by the administration. He said lawful action would be taken in case anyone acts against the permission.
Meanwhile sub-divisional officer Vikas Kumar said orders have been promulgated under Section 144 in the entire campus of the hostel and heavy deployment has been made around the hostel.
Meanwhile, Congress workers who were firm on conducting the event at the hostel even after initiating their preparations at the town hall following the permission granted by the administration, threatened to take their agitation to the roads if they were not allowed to conduct the programme at the hostel.
The local Congress workers said that their leader Rahul Gandhi would return after meeting the students on roads in case the administration obstructs their programme at the hostel.
Rahul Gandhi who is arriving here on Thursday on a daylong tour of Bihar was slated to hold a dialogue with students at Ambedkar Kalyan chhatrawas in Darbhanga.
