Four from Bihar sentenced for 10-yr imprisonment in Tripura

Agartala, Marp 11 (UNI) Four persons from Bihar were convicted by a local court in North Tripura on Tuesday and sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for smuggling 29.5 kg of cannabis from Agartala six years ago.
Police had arrested Suresh Mandal, Rajani Mohan Bharati, Punam Devi, and Suniti Devi, residents of Bihar in March 2019 from Bengaluru-bound Humsafar Express at Dharmanagar Railway station.
After a prolonged trial Additional Sessions Judge of North Tripura has convicted all the accused and sentenced them to suffer rigorous imprisonment for 10 years. The court has also slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh each for the commission of offence and in default of payment of fine to suffer further rigorous imprisonment for six months.
