African Swine Fever deaths in Mizoram cross 4,000 as culling continues in four towns

Aizawl, May 15 (UNI) Since the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak was confirmed in Mizoram on March 20 through tests conducted at a Guwahati laboratory, the number of pig fatalities has risen above 4,000, with 4,019 deaths reported so far.
In addition, 1,231 pigs have been culled as part of containment efforts, according to officials from the state Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department on Thursday.
The reported casualties and culls this year have occurred across 53 localities within four towns designated as ASF-infected zones by the department.
