Polling begins for Nuapada Assembly bypoll in Odisha; 14.99 pc voter turnout till 9 AM

Bhubaneswar, Nov 11 (UNI) Polling for the Nuapada Assembly by-election in Odisha began at 7 am on Tuesday to decide the fate of 14 candidates.
According to the Chief Electoral Office (CEO), voting is underway across 358 polling booths and will continue till 5 pm, except in 47 sensitive booths located in Maoist-affected areas, where polling will end at 4 pm.
A total of 2.53 lakh voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the bypoll, necessitated by the demise of sitting BJD MLA Rajendra Dholkia. His son, Jay Dholkia, is contesting as the BJP candidate, while the BJD has fielded former minister and Biju Mahila Janata Dal President Snehangini Chhuria.
