53.77 percent voter turnout recorded till 3 PM in first phase of Bihar Assembly Elections

Patna, Nov 6 (UNI) A voter turnout of 53.77 per cent was recorded across Bihar till 3 PM on Thursday as polling for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections is underway amid tight security arrangements in 121 constituencies, according to data released by the Election Commission of India.
According to Election Commission, highest polling of 59.82 percent was recorded in Begusarai, Patna recorded 48.69 percent, Madhepura 55.96 percent, Saharsa 55.22 percent, Darbhanga 51.75 percent, Gopalganj 58.17 percent, Siwan 50.93 percent, Saran 54.60 percent, Vaishali 53.63 percent, Samastipur 56.35 percent, Muzaffarpur 58.40 percent, Khagaria 54.77 percent, Munger 52.17 percent, Lakhisarai 57.39 percent, Sheikhpura 49.37 percent, Nalanda 52.32 percent, Bhojpur 50.07 percent and Buxar 51.69 percent.
Voters were seen standing in long queues outside polling booths since early morning. Women, first-time voters, and youngsters turned out in large numbers to exercise their franchise, expressing enthusiasm to be part of the democratic process and elect a new government in Bihar.
