Odisha to introduce 55 new NCERT textbooks across schools from 2026–27

Bhubaneswar, Jan 16 (UNI) Odisha will implement 55 new NCERT textbooks across all schools from the 2026–27 academic year, reflecting the state’s culture, heritage, and educational needs, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced. Speaking at a meeting on curriculum reform and textbook development on Friday, Pradhan advised District Education Officers to raise awareness and generate excitement among students and parents about the new textbooks.
To ensure smooth implementation, 1,000 Master Resource Persons have been trained across four zones of the state. These experts will, in turn, train over 1.66 lakh primary teachers under the Mass Education and Tribal Welfare Departments. Pradhan emphasised the importance of curriculum development and capacity-building of these resource persons to achieve a successful rollout.
School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gand stated that under NEP 2020, Odisha has translated and contextualised the 55 new NCERT textbooks.
