Over Rs 1.41 crore worth heroin seized in Mizoram

Aizawl, Mar 24 (UNI) In what is believed to be one of the largest drug seizures in Mizoram, police personnel posted at Zokhawthar village along the India-Myanmar border in Champhai district confiscated 4.722 kilogrammes of heroin valued at over Rs 1.41 crore.
Six individuals were arrested on March 14, and subsequent investigation led to the arrest of two more suspects, including a prominent businessman, the following day.
Inspector General of Police (Headquarters) and Chief Public Relations Officer H. Ramthlengliana said on Monday that details of the seizure were only disclosed after a thorough investigation had been initiated. He added that efforts are ongoing to track down others who are still evading the police dragnet.
