Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey attends Ulgulan Shaheed Mela 2026 in Khunti

Khunti, Jan 9 (UNI) State Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey attended the Ulgulan Shaheed Mela 2026 at Dombari Buru in Khunti, organised by the district administration and the Birsa Ulgulan Dombari Buru Mela Committee.
On the occasion, the minister paid floral tributes to the statue of Birsa Munda and honoured his descendant Sukhram Munda, seeking his blessings. Addressing the gathering, she said Dombari Buru is remembered as a historic site of sacrifice where followers of Birsa Munda laid down their lives in the struggle against British forces, making it a symbol of tribal resistance and martyrdom.
Stating that the history of sacrifice and struggle of the tribal society cannot be expressed merely in words, the minister said the tribal community has always remained dedicated to society. Emphasising the continued fight to protect jal, jungle aur zameen (water, forests and land), she said the community remains prepared for sacrifice even today. She also underlined the need to spread education among tribal communities to bring social change and urged unity against divisive forces.
