Rs 4 Cr worth cannabis seized from Tripura-Assam border

Agartala, May 12 (UNI) Tripura Police on Monday seized about 960 kilograms of cannabis worth an estimated Rs 4 crore at the Churaibari along the Assam-Tripura border in North Tripura district.
Police said this was one the biggest seizure this year. The contraband was discovered concealed inside electric transformers loaded on a truck heading towards Guwahati.
Acting on a specific tip-off, a police team led by Churaibari Officer-in-Charge Khokan Saha intercepted the suspicious vehicle in the early hours of the day.

Odisha engineer posted in tribal areas arrested after Vigilance uncovers assets worth crores

Bhubaneswar, June 7 (UNI) Odisha Vigilance on Sunday arrested an engineer of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) after unearthing assets allegedly disproportionate to his known sources of income, including cash worth Rs 2.04 crore, officials said.
The accused, Baikuntha Nath Behera (52), Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) with the ITDA at Baliguda in Kandhamal district, was arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act and is being produced before the Special Vigilance Court in Bhubaneswar.

Arms, communication equipment recovered along Indo-Myanmar border

Imphal, June 7 (UNI) Manipur Police and security personnel recovered a cache of arms, communication equipment and remnants of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from the Indo-Myanmar Border (IMB) in Tengnoupal district, while separate operations led to the arrest of two active militants and two individuals involved in illegal liquor transportation, police said on Sunday.
