Kalahandi Police nab eight-member Inter-State Robbery Gang, recover Rs 3.51 cr

Bhubaneswar, Feb 1 (UNI) Kalahandi District Police successfully arrested an eight-member inter-state robbery gang and seized Rs 3.51 crore in cash, guns, bullets, and vehicles.
Sources at the Odisha State Police Headquarters reported on Saturday that the Dharmagarh Police apprehended the eight dacoits involved in a major robbery, confiscating Rs 3.51 crore in cash, firearms, ammunition, vehicles used in the crime, and other deadly weapons.
All the arrested individuals are from Jharkhand state. They have been identified as Tahir Ansari, Hussain Khan, Jaism Khan, Samim Ansari, Basudev Gope, Pintu (also known as Alim), and Anuj Kumar, all from Ranchi district, Jharkhand.
Police reported that the robbery took place at a country liquor distillery in Dharamgarh on January 30. Late at night, eight robbers, armed with deadly weapons, entered the distillery with the intention of committing robbery.
They stole the money by threatening the staff with guns and other lethal weapons.
A special team led by Kalahandi SP was formed to apprehend the robbers after a case was registered at the Dharmagarh police station. Raids were conducted at various locations.
After committing the robbery, the accused fled the scene in a vehicle. During the investigation, the vehicle used in the crime was identified and seized in Jharkhand.
In the course of the investigation, the local police also arrested two additional suspects, Siraj Ansari and Kameshwar Yadav.
The police received information that the other suspects had fled to Jharkhand. So far, all the accused involved in the incident have been arrested.
State Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania praised and congratulated the Kalahandi SP and his team for their prompt action and success in arresting the dacoits.
