Arunachal: Molestation accused arrested with illegal firearm

Itanagar, May 7 (UNI) In a swift and effective response, Arunachal Pradesh’s Papu Hills Police has arrested a 35-year-old individual involved in a molestation case and recovered an unlicensed firearm with live ammunition from his possession, a senior police officer said on Wednesday.
“The incident came to light on Tuesday when a 26-year-old woman lodged a written complaint, alleging that the accused, Chello Kalar, without provocation, physically assaulted her and attempted to molest her at Naharlagun Railway Station,” Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo said.
The victim, who along with the accused’s wife had travelled to Guwahati, reported that upon their return to Naharlagun Railway Station, Kalar without any inquiry, physically assaulted her and attempted to molest her. When resisted, he brandished a pistol and chased her using obscene language and gestures that outraged her modesty. She managed to escape and took shelter within the station premises before alerting her family.
