Assam cabinet approves handing over PWD engineer suicide case to CBI

Guwahati, July 31 (UNI) The Assam Cabinet has approved the transfer of investigation of suspected suicide case of PWD department engineer, Joshita Das of Bongaigaon Sub-Division to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said this on Thursday adding that a seven-member SIT was formed to investigate the case.
“The site was videographed and examined by RFSL and Crime Scene Officer. Inquest, post-mortem, CDR analysis, and seizures were completed. Three accused were arrested, and a notice under Section 94 BNSS was issued; the case warrants a thorough investigation due to public concern and possible inter-state links,” said Sarma.

Under this programme, 40 students—20 each in Electrician and Fitter trades, selected from MCL’s operational areas will be provided with industry-relevant technical skills at CIPET, through a comprehensive 2-year ITI curriculum.
