EEPC India lauds new EPM and credit guarantee scheme to boost MSMEs

Kolkata, Nov 13 (UNI) EEPC India, the apex engineering exports promotion body, today thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Commerce and Industries Minister Piyush Goyal for launching the Rs 25,060 crore Export Promotion Mission (EPM) to enhance export competitiveness for MSMEs, first–time exporters and labour intensive sectors through a unified and adaptive export framework.
"We are grateful that the engineering sector has been earmarked as one of the core sectors to receive priority assistance under the EPM as the sector has been affected by the global tariff shift," EEPC India Chairman Pankaj Chadha said.
The initiatives are expected to enhance export competitiveness, support MSMEs and first-time exporters, facilitate new market access, and improve ease of doing business, strengthening India’s export-led growth.

Fresh call for dissolution adds new strain to Chakma ADC political standoff

Aizawl, Dec 8 (UNI) The turmoil within the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) has taken a new turn with MDC Doymoy Daveng Chakma urging the Governor to dissolve the 11th Council, warning that the political deadlock has reached a point where “stable governance is no longer possible.”
In a letter submitted a few days back, Daveng Chakma alleged that the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) Legislature Party — which currently holds a numerical majority — is fractured from within, claiming several MDCs were acting under the “influence and direction” of leaders from rival parties.

Mizoram CM credits crackdown for higher betel-nut prices

Aizawl, Dec 8 (UNI) Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Monday said the sharp rise in prices of locally grown betel nuts this season is a direct outcome of the state government’s campaign against the smuggling of dry areca nuts from Myanmar.
Speaking at the Kuhva Kut (betel nut festival) jointly organised by betel-nut growers and the Land Resources, Soil & Water Conservation Department at Rengdil Sports Centre under Hachhek constituency, the Chief Minister congratulated farmers for securing “one of the best rates in recent years”.

East Jaintia Hills DC seeks report from police on 'death' of 3 coal miners

Shillong, Dec 8 (UNI) District authorities in mineral-rich East Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya would seek a report from the police on the reported death of three coal miners. “There is no such information that has been received by my office in this regard. However, I will seek a report from the police,” Shivansh Awasthi, the Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills district, told UNI over the phone.
