Chouhan exhorts agri scientists to tune their research with 'Developed India @ 2047' vision

Patna, June 16 (UNI) Exhorting agricultural scientists to take their research forward in line with the national vision of 'Developed India @ 2047', Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the benefits of research will be meaningful only when it reaches farmers effectively at the field level.
Accompanied by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister cum Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Chouhan visited the Indian Council of Agricultural Research – Eastern Regional Research Complex (ICAR-RCER) located in Patna on Monday and reviewed the ongoing research work at the institute and the efforts being made to transform the agriculture sector of the eastern region of the country.
Appreciating the role of ICAR and its Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) in the recently concluded Vyavad Gita Abhiyan (VKSA), he said that it is for the first time that the agriculture departments of the Central and State Governments have come together to take science-based solutions to the grassroots level.

Two more owners of the illegal rat-hole coal mine arrested in Meghalaya

Shillong, Feb 15 (UNI) Meghalaya police arrested two more owners of the illegal rat-hole coal mine where a dynamite blast killed 31 mine workers in Mynsngat-Thangsko area of East Jaintia Hills district, police said on Sunday.
Earnest Swer and Rangsing Syiemlieh alias Mithun were arrested on Saturday after evading police arrest in connection with the deadly coal mine blast on February 5, police said.
