Bengal CM Mamata greets tribal people on 'Intl day of World's Indigenous Peoples'

Kolkata, Aug 9 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday greeted the tribal people to mark the "International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples."
"My heartiest greetings to all our tribal people on the occasion of International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples, today," Banerjee said on her X Handle.
The CM on Thursday moved to the tribal district of Jhargram where she would hold an official meeting to review the progress of the ongoing government projects and is expected to announce a slew of new ones, official sources said.
"In Bangla we observe this day as ‘Adivasi Divas’. On this day, we honour the invaluable contributions of our Adivasi brethren to our society and environment and celebrate their vibrant traditions, art, and heritage throughout the state.
I will be present in the state-level celebration of Adivasi Divas at Jhargram today." she said.
"Our Govt is committed to the comprehensive development of tribal people. We have created a separate department and formed several development boards to uphold and protect their rights and to give focused attention for their welfare. We have ensured laws to protect their land.
"We will continue our work for the development of tribal brothers & sisters in the future also. Jai Johar!," Mamata concluded.
