Odisha reports over 1,800 drowning deaths in three years: CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar, Dec 8 (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the State Assembly on Monday that 1,832 people have lost their lives due to drowning in rivers and the sea over the past three years.
Responding to a question raised by Bibhuti Bhushan Balabantaray (BJD), the Chief Minister said 1,750 deaths occurred in rivers, while 82 people drowned in the sea during the period.
Majhi stated that Cuttack district recorded the highest number of river drowning deaths (179) between 2022 and 2024 (up to the present date). This was followed by Keonjhar – 160 deaths, Mayurbhanj – 154 deaths,Sundargarh – 140 deaths,Kendrapara – 110 deaths and Sambalpur – 107 deaths

406 people donate blood at camp organised at Lok Bhavan on Jharkhand Governor’s directions

Ranchi, Jan 12 (UNI) On the directions of the Governor of Jharkhand, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, a Blood Donation Camp was organised by the Indian Red Cross Society, Jharkhand State Branch, at Birsa Mandap, Lok Bhavan, Ranchi, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great philosopher and visionary Swami Vivekananda (National Youth Day). A total of 406 people voluntarily donated blood during the camp.
