Assam CM hints at more pushbacks to Bangladesh

Guwahati, June 7 (UNI) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said the government is going to push back more illegal foreigners in the days to come.
The Chief Minister said the Supreme court during a hearing of the Citizenship Amendment Act directed that the Immigrant (expulsion) Act is still in force under which a district commissioner can issue an expulsion order against illegal foreigners.
"This was a Supreme court order. However, we came to know about it recently. The DCs can issue an expulsion order and we can go for pushing back those detected foreigners," Sarma said while talking to media at Nalbari on Saturday.
