Odisha Government boosts farmers’ income through Apple Ber market linkages

Bhubaneswar, Jan 10 (UNI) The Odisha government has taken a significant step toward enhancing farmers’ income by establishing strong market linkages for Apple Ber cultivated in Dhamnagar Block of Bhadrak district with major markets in Angul and Dhenkanal. Through the concerted efforts of the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment and the Directorate of Horticulture, farmers have achieved a 25 percent higher price realization for their produce.
Implemented under the Promotion and Stabilization of Farmer Producer Organizations (PSFPO) scheme, the initiative has facilitated the procurement of one metric tonne of premium Apple Ber varieties, including Ball Sundari, Kashmir Sundari, and Thai Green.
Golden Agro Fed Farmers Producer Company Ltd. played a key role in aggregating and marketing the produce, helping farmers secure better prices while reducing their dependence on middlemen.
