Tipra Motha calls 12-hour strike in Tripura over arrest of party cadres

Agartala, May 5 (UNI) A fresh wave of political tension has engulfed Jampuijla in Tripura’s Sepahijala district following the arrest of leaders from the Tipra Motha party in connection with the alleged vandalism of a BJP party office.
In response, Tipra Motha has announced a dawn-to-dusk general strike in the area today. Tipra Motha MLA Biswajit Koloi, representing Takarjala, and MDC Suraj Debbarma are among those facing serious allegations linked to the incident.
The unrest reportedly began on May 3, when a purported victory procession passing through Jampuijla market area turned violent. Miscreants allegedly attacked and ransacked a BJP party office. Despite a strong police presence led by the Officer-in-Charge, authorities were unable to bring the situation under control or prevent the damage.
