Mizoram MP seeks anti-defection law for ADCs; another flags repeated Parliament adjournments

Aizawl, Dec 2 (UNI) Mizoram’s two MPs — Lok Sabha member Richard Vanlalhmangaiha and Rajya Sabha member K. Vanlalvena — on Tuesday raised separate but significant concerns ahead of the Winter Session of Parliament, with Vanlalhmangaiha calling for an anti-defection law for Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) and Vanlalvena criticising the near-daily adjournments that have disrupted parliamentary proceedings.
Both issues were highlighted during a meeting of all Parliamentary floor leaders held at the Parliament Annexe Committee Room as part of session preparations.
Vanlalhmangaiha said ADCs under the Sixth Schedule, including those in Mizoram, have long suffered from unstable administrations due to frequent defections by Members of District Council (MDCs).
