57.25 percent voting till 6 pm in Rupauli Assembly bypoll in Bihar

Patna, July 10 (UNI) An estimated 57.25 percent electorate have exercised their franchise till 6 PM when voting came to an end in the by-election to Rupauli assembly seat in Bihar on Wednesday.
The bypoll passed off peacefully amid tight security arrangements.
According to office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), no untoward incident was reported from any part of the constituency during the polling. In 2020 Bihar assembly election, 61.19 percent polling was recorded in Rupali seat.
A total of 11 candidates including former Bihar Minister Beema Bharti were in the fray but the main contest was between Bharti of RJD and Kaladhar Mandal of JD(U). More than 3.13 lakhs electorate were eligible to exercise their franchise and a total of 321 polliing stations were set up to enable them for casting votes.
Central para military forces were deputed at booths to ensure free and fair polling. Polling was held from 7 AM to 6 PM.
Counting of votes will be taken up on July 13. By-election to Rupauli seat was necessitated following the resignation of sitting JD(U) MLA Beema Bharti. She had contested on RJD ticket from Purnea seat in recently held Lok Sabha elections but suffered defeat.
