Google partners with Reliance Jio to roll out Gemini AI tools for 5G users

Mumbai, Oct 31 (UNI) Tech giant Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai tweeted on X that the company has entered into a deal with the Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio to roll out free artificial intelligence tools to all Jio's 5G users for 18 months.
As of June 2025, Reliance Jio has a 5G user base of 213 million, the company had announced in its earnings release for the first quarter of the financial year 2026 (Q1FY26).
Google services, worth Rs 35,100 per user, will have a staggered roll out with early access for 18-year-old to 25-year-old users on unlimited Jio 5G plans for 18 months. Eventually, it will be made available for free to the company’s entire customer base.
"Excited to partner with Reliance Jio to bring the best of Google AI to India. Eligible Jio users will receive our AI Pro plan at no extra cost for 18 months, including Gemini 2.5 Pro, 2TB of storage and our latest AI creation tools. Can't wait to see what we'll build together" Google CEO Sundar Pichai said in a post tweeted on X.
According to Reliance Jio, "Early access is for Jio SIM users aged 18 to 25 years who are active on an unlimited 5G plan of Rs 349 or above. Users must continuously maintain an active 5G plan for the entire duration of the offer to keep accessing Google Gemini offer benefits. This offer is eligible only for Jio retail users."
Speaking about the development, Reliance Industries Ltd Chairman Mukesh Ambani said, "Reliance Intelligence aims to make intelligence services accessible to 1.45 billion Indians. Through our collaboration with strategic and long-term partners like Google, we aim to make India not just AI-enabled but AI-empowered, where every citizen and enterprise can harness intelligent tools to create, innovate and grow".
Posting on Google's official blog, Google Labs and Gemini Vice President Josh Woodward announced, "Today, we announced a strategic partnership with Reliance Intelligence to offer Google’s AI Pro plan, and with it the latest version of Google Gemini, to Jio Unlimited 5G plan users at no extra cost for 18 months. This offer will begin rolling out to users between 18 and 25 years of age, and will soon extend to include every eligible Jio user nationwide".
"Eligible Jio customers will gain higher access to our most capable Gemini 2.5 Pro model in the Gemini app, higher limits to generate stunning images and videos with our state-of-the-art Nano Banana and Veo 3.1 models, expanded access to NotebookLM for study and research, 2 TB of cloud storage across Google Photos, Gmail, Drive and for backing up WhatsApp (on Android) and more, which is of a combined value of approximately Rs 35,100. Eligible Jio users can activate this offer via the MyJio app," Google Labs & Gemini Vice President Josh Woodward stated.
"We are excited to expand access to our most powerful AI models to more people across India, and can’t wait to see how our world-class tools deliver powerful benefits in people’s everyday lives," Woodward added.
