Maruti Suzuki total sales rise 5 pc to 1.68 lakh units in April

New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) The country's largest carmaker on Wednesday reported 4.70% year-on-year increase in total sales at 1,68,089 units for the month of April 2024.
"Total sales in the month include domestic sales of 140,448 units, sales to other OEM (original equipment manufacturer) of 5,481 units and exports of 22,160 units," the top carmaker said in a statement.
As per the sales figures released by the company, mini and compact segments comprising models like Alto, S-Presso, Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift and WagonR recorded decline in sales during April this year.
Mini segment comprising Alto and S-Presso together sold 11,519 units in April 2024 as compared to 14,110 units in April 2023 thus registering 18.36% fall.
Compact car segment comprising models like Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, WagonR registered total sales of 56,953 units in April 2024 as against 74,935 units in the same month last year.
Utility vehicle segment including models like Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny and XL6 however saw significant jump in sales continuing the uptrend.
The total sales of the utility vehicle segment in April this year was 56,553 units, a surge of 54% as compared to 36,754 units in April 2023.
Maruti Suzuki's total domestic sales (passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles and sales to OEM combined) increased 1.65% year-on-year to 145,929 units in April this year.
