Toshiba to invest INR 500 cr to increase its Power T & D equipment capacity in India

Hyderabad, July 18 (UNI) To address the growing global demand for Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) equipment amid the global trend of renewable energy expansion, Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Private Limited (hereinafter TTDI) on Thursday announced that it will invest around JPY 10 billion (over INR 500 crore) to increase its manufacturing capacity of power Transformers and Distribution transformer in India.
Toshiba, a world leader in the supply of T&D equipment for both conventional and renewable energy sources, will invest over Rs 500 crore in TTDI to expand its capacity around 1.5 times compared to FY23, over a three year period from FY2024 to FY2026, the company said in a release here.
TTDI will also build a new manufacturing facility for surge arresters during the first half of FY2024 and the products will be commercially available in the market by the second half of the year.
Elaborating on the significant investments in India, TTDI Chairperson and Managing Director Mr. Hiroshi Furuta, said, “ With India established as a hub for our T&D equipment manufacturing operations and export base, TTDI has successfully supplied India-made transformers to over 50 countries. Furthering our commitment to Make-in-India and Export-from-India, the new investment will improve operational efficiency, increase speed-to-market, and support in expanding our business in India and overseas.”
With this investment, TTDI will increase its assembly and test line capacity for Distribution transformers and Power transformers for the Transmission Grids and Distribution Networks.
Distribution Transform expansion is mainly to create a dedicated state of art facility for CRGO (Cold Rolled Grain Oriented) steel processing centre in order to enhance the vertical integration facility which can help us to reduce the process lead time, enhancement of Quality, Safety and 5S.
TTDI’s advanced technology & processes, high-level of background integration, state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, massive production capacity and a highly skilled workforce yield high-quality T&D equipment that are made-in-India.
