Maharashtra Legislative Council polls for 16 seats scheduled on June 18, Nagpur to witness by-election

Mumbai, May 18 (UNI) The Election Commission has announced the schedule for elections to 17 Local Authorities’ constituencies of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, ending a prolonged delay of nearly two-and-a-half years caused by pending local body elections in the state. The polls, which are expected to boost the effective strength of the Upper House ahead of the Monsoon Session, will be held on June 18, while the counting of votes is scheduled for June 22.
