NEVA Snag Disrupts HP Assembly’s Online Proceedings

Shimla, Feb 17 (UNI) The ongoing Budget Session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly was hit by technical disruptions on Tuesday following the integration of its e-Vidhan software with the National e-Vidhan Application (NEVA), a unified digital platform introduced for Parliament and state legislatures.
Before the commencement of Zero hour, Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur raised the issue, alleging that questions submitted by Opposition members were not being taken up during proceedings. He also pointed to delays in receiving video footage of members’ speeches. Referring to his participation in the debate on the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG) issue on Monday, Thakur said that he received the recording of his speech only in the evening.
Responding to the concerns, Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania clarified that the delay in providing footage was procedural. He explained that expunged portions and remarks not permitted to be placed in the public domain are first removed to uphold the privilege of the House.
