Negligence alleged as woman dies post-surgery at Medicent hospital, family protests in Bokaro

Bokaro, Oct 6 (UNI) A woman undergoing treatment at Medicent Super Speciality Cancer Hospital in Bokaro, died recently, prompting protests by her family over alleged medical negligence.
According to police, the deceased, Sushma Devi of 43 years of age, a resident of Rana Pratap Nagar, Chas, had been experiencing difficulty with bowel and urinary functions. She was initially admitted to Bokaro General Hospital on September 29, but as the relevant specialist doctor was on leave, the hospital management advised her family to seek treatment elsewhere. Consequently, she was admitted to Medicent Hospital on October 2, where she underwent surgery on October 4.

Crackdown in Manipur: Opium fields destroyed, weapons seized

Imphal, Nov 16 UNI: A large-scale poppy destruction drive was carried out from November 11 to 15 across Ukhrul district, covering the hill ranges of Somdal, Lamlai Chingfei, and Litan. Security forces, in collaboration with government agencies, destroyed approximately 436 acres of poppy plantations, and 51 huts found at the cultivation sites were also burned, police said today.
In a separate operation, security forces recovered a substantial cache of arms and explosives from the areas adjoining Ngairangbam and Longa Koireng villages under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West district.
