NDA, RJD candidates file papers for Bihar Council polls; Nishant makes electoral debut

Patna, June 8 (UNI) Candidates of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Monday filed their nomination papers for elections to nine biennial seats and one by-election seat of the Bihar Legislative Council, with the electoral debut of Nishant Kumar, son of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, drawing particular attention.
Nishant Kumar, a JD(U) nominee, filed his nomination papers along with fellow party candidates Bharti Mehta, Shivrani Devi Prajapati and Lalan Prasad, who is contesting the by-election seat. The NDA has fielded nine candidates, including four each from the Janata Dal (United) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and one from the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas).
BJP nominees Sanjay Mayukh, Anil Kumar Thakur, Sheela Pandit and Bhojpuri actor-turned-politician Pawan Singh also filed their nomination papers. Ashraf Ansari submitted his nomination as the LJP (Ram Vilas) candidate, while Dr Sunil Kumar Singh filed his papers on behalf of the RJD, a key constituent of the Mahagathbandhan.

No prescribed uniform for Bihar teachers, but dignified attire mandatory: Deputy CM

Patna, July 21 ( UNI) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary on Tuesday clarified in the state Assembly that there is no prescribed uniform or specific dress code for teachers in government schools. However, teachers are supposed to attend educational institutions wearing dignified and appropriate attire befitting the teaching profession.
