NCW hears 40 complaints in Patiala, domestic violence tops grievance list

-Chandigarh, Jun 17 (UNI) National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar on Tuesday conducted a public hearing in Patiala under the Commission’s outreach initiative aimed at addressing women's grievances at the grassroots level, with domestic violence emerging as the most frequently reported issue.
The hearing was organised at Police Lines, Patiala, as part of the “National Commission for Women at Your Doorstep” programme. Speaking to reporters, Rahatkar said the Commission reviewed complaints previously submitted by women from the district and also entertained fresh grievances brought forward during the event.
She said nearly 40 cases were taken up during the hearing, with support from the district police and civil administration. According to the NCW chief, complaints related to domestic violence constituted the largest category of cases, while matters involving sexual assault and financial disputes were also examined.
