NCPCR reviews Child Labour Prevention efforts in Panchkula; 18 children rescued since January

Panchkula, July 15 (UNI) Eighteen children have been rescued from child labour in Panchkula district since January this year, even as the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) directed the administration to ensure mandatory FIR registration in every case of a child below 14 years being found employed.
The disclosure came during a review meeting of the District Task Force on Child Labour, chaired by Sh K.P.J. Gerald, Senior Consultant, NCPCR, at the Mini Secretariat here today. Deputy Commissioner Sh Satpal Sharma and Sh Shubhankar Chaudhary from the NCPCR were also present.
Assistant Labour Commissioner Smt. Anjana informed the meeting that the District Task Force has conducted 29 surprise inspections across the district since January 2026, leading to the rescue of 18 children, with awareness programmes being organised regularly at brick kilns, factories and other vulnerable locations.
