Naxalism eradicated, Bastar 2.0 to drive growth: Chhattisgarh CM

Hyderabad, June 12 (UNI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday declared that Left-Wing Extremism has been effectively eliminated from the state, marking the end of a decades-long Maoist insurgency and paving the way for accelerated development in the Bastar region.
Addressing media persons on the sidelines of the ‘Chhattisgarh Investor Connect’ roadshow in Hyderabad, Sai said the state has undergone a significant transformation, with areas previously affected by insurgency now witnessing rapid economic and infrastructure development.
"Chhattisgarh is now free from Naxalism. What was once a decades-long conflict concentrated in a handful of districts has been virtually eradicated. The focus has now shifted towards development, employment generation and economic revival in Bastar," he said.
The Chief Minister said the state government has launched the “Bastar 2.0” development blueprint aimed at transforming the region into a hub for investment, infrastructure and employment generation.
Highlighting reforms undertaken by the state government, Sai said Chhattisgarh has adopted the principle of “Minimum Governance, Maximum Incentives” to facilitate investments and improve ease of doing business.
“All industry-related processes have been digitised. This will ensure greater transparency, faster clearances and efficient implementation of projects,” he said.
Referring to recent political engagements in the national capital, Sai said he had spent the last two days in New Delhi attending meetings of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
“There was a major NDA meeting attended by Chief Ministers from across the country and representatives from union Territories. After the meetings in Delhi, we came directly to Hyderabad for the Investor Connect programme,” he said.
The Chief Minister said Chhattisgarh’s new industrial policy has received an encouraging response from investors.
“Our industrial policy is being appreciated across the country and in a short period, Chhattisgarh has received investment proposals worth nearly ₹8 lakh crore, and work has already commenced on several projects,” the Chief Minsiter said.
Sai said the Hyderabad Investor Connect event also generated substantial investor interest.
“Today we have received investment proposals worth ₹9,580 crore, which are expected to generate employment opportunities for more than 7,800 people. Investments have been proposed in sectors including data centres, pharmaceuticals, solar energy, component manufacturing and dairy,” he said.
He expressed confidence that more investors would choose Chhattisgarh as a preferred destination for industrial expansion.
“Chhattisgarh offers a highly favourable environment for businesses, and our government remains committed to supporting investors at every stage,” he added.
Earlier speaking at the roadshow, Chhattisgarh Industries Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan said the state is pursuing inclusive economic growth under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.
“The Industrial Development Policy 2024-30, which came into effect in November 2024, provides financial incentives not only for manufacturing industries but also for the service sector,” Dewangan said.
He said the policy uniquely links incentives with employment generation.
“The more jobs an enterprise creates, the greater the financial incentives it becomes eligible for. This approach is helping attract investments while ensuring employment opportunities for local youth,” he added.
Chhattisgarh Industries Secretary Rajat Kumar, Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC) Managing Director Vishwesh Kumar, CII Chhattisgarh Chairman Bajrang Goel and CII Telangana Chairman M. Goutham Reddy, among others, participated in the roadshow.
