Priyanka Kakkar quits AAP, joins Cong expressing confidence in party

New Delhi, Oct 3 (UNI) In another blow to the Aam Aadmi Party, its national spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar on Saturday left the party and joined the Congress, expressing that she had to draw a line, and in the context of AAP, she said she could no longer defend the indefensible.
She further said that there was a time when it was said that AAP would not take a bungalow or a car, but later, choppers started being used for private travel, and all such things happened which were different from what the party had started off with. She also mentioned that earlier people with substance were the ones who initially got attracted to the AAP, but now several decisions and elevation of people with less experience, and other decisions in the party were things that were not going well with her.
Speaking of Delhi, she said she wanted the Delhi back which she grew up in, the green, clean, progressive and safe Delhi, adding that after a decade-long experience in politics, she realised only Congress can make such a thing happen. "If there is one authentic leader, it is Rahul Gandhi. He is resilient. It is important that we all come together," she said during a press conference. Apart from Kakkar, former MLA from Uttar Pradesh Shyam Sunder Sharma, along with Rajat Rakesh Tandon, also joined Congress, expressing confidence in Rahul Gandhi's authenticity.
Senior Congress leader Rajiv Shukla, Pawan Khera and the grand old party's Delhi unit chief Devender Yadav were also present on the occasion. Kakkar appealed that everyone must come under the Congress umbrella and now fight against the vote theft, and defeat regressive politics. Meanwhile, Delhi Congress chief regarding this development has said that public confidence in the ideology of the Congress and the principles of Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi is continuously strengthening.
