New Delhi, Sep 19 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended his best wishes to the Indian contingent competing at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, and lauded the athletes for their hard work, dedication and determination. In a post on social media platform X, Modi said the country was proud of its athletes and urged them to give their best as they take on competitors from across Asia.
"As the Asian Games commence in Aichi-Nagoya, my best wishes to the Indian contingent. Each athlete has worked incredibly hard and shown remarkable dedication and determination. India is proud of them," the Prime Minister said. "May they give their best, play well and shine!" he added. Modi's message came as Indian athletes began their campaign at the continental sporting event, which brings together leading competitors from across Asia and provides a major international platform for athletes to demonstrate their talent and sporting excellence.
India's participation in the Games also comes amid the country's continuing efforts to strengthen its sporting ecosystem, promote high-performance sport and provide greater support and opportunities to athletes competing at the highest level. The Asian Games remain one of the most important multi-sport events for Indian athletes, offering them an opportunity to compete against some of the strongest sporting talent in the region while seeking honours for the country.
