DJB clears Rs 17,970 cr sewer overhaul, adopts 'One Zone, One Operator' model

New Delhi, Sep 30 (UNI) The Delhi Jal Board has given in-principle approval to a Rs 17,969.93-crore, 10-year programme to overhaul the city's sewer network, with the government proposing a new "One Zone, One Operator" model to fix responsibility for maintenance and complaints, officials said on Wednesday. Under the proposed system, Delhi will be divided into eight zones, with a single operator responsible for the entire sewer network in each zone, including sewer lines, manholes, pumping stations and complaint resolution, the government said.
