National Games: I am still CDM for J&K contingent, claims JKOA official Wattal

Jammu, Feb 8 (UNI) Refuting the allegations of his “ouster” from the 38th National Games underway at Uttrakhand, a senior official of Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association (JKOA), Kiran Wattal has claimed that he is still the “Chef de Mission” (CDM) for Jammu and Kashmir contingent and will soon be returning to the venue.
Wattal, the Vice President of Gymnastics Federation of India (GFI) and also the President of Jammu and Kashmir Gymnastics Association (JKGA) setting aside the controversy while speaking to UNI asserted, “allegations about my removal as CDM of J&K contingent are baseless rumours.”
“I am still the CDM and returning back to Uttarakhand very soon as gymnastics events are also commencing from February 9.”

World Athletics to introduce new distances to race walk events in 2026

Beijing, Dec 17 (UNI) World Athletics will introduce half-marathon and marathon distances to race walk events in 2026 in an effort to help fans better grasp the speed of the sport, President Sebastian Coe said.
Under the schedule for the World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships on April 12, 2026, the traditional 20-kilometer race walk will be replaced by a half-marathon race walk, while the 35km event will shift to a marathon race walk. It will be the first time the new distances appear at major international competitions.
