Mumbai pigeon feeding spot forcibly opens

Mumbai Aug 6 (UNI) Mumbai iconic Kabutar khana (pigeon feeding area) at Dadar in central Mumbai was forcibly opened by a massive crowd of Jain protestors today. They vandalised the plastic cover put up by civic officials and resumed feeding pigeons.
Members of the Jain community were gathered this morning at the kabutar khana, expressing outrage over the ongoing crackdown by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on pigeon feeding spots.
Hundreds of protestors, both men and women, stormed the spot and tore apart the cover that was placed to prevent feeding. A heavy police presence was deployed to control the crowd and de-escalate the situation.
