Mumbai builder remanded to police custody in Rs 9.57 crore cheating case

Mumbai, Nov 6 (UNI) A local court today remanded city based builder and his assistant into police custody till November 9 for allegedly cheating a contractor of Rs 9.57 crore and threatening him with physical violence.
The arrested accused identified as builder Neeraj Kakad and his associate Vikas Kadam, were produced before a court in suburban Bandra. While moving the remand application the Prosecution submitted that the accused developer is a habitual offender and police needs his custody for detailed investigation.
While oppossing the plea defence, advocate Ashok Sarogi said that the offence was of a civil nature and the developer was wrongly booked in the criminal case.

Maharashtra: Lokayukta Bill passed; Chief Minister now within Lokayukta's ambit

Nagpur, Dec 12 (UNI) The Maharashtra Legislature approved the Maharashtra State Lokayukta Amendment Bill, 2025, in both houses after incorporating three minor revisions proposed by the central government. The updated law, which will come into force once the governor gives assent, grants the state’s anti-corruption ombudsman the authority to investigate the Chief Minister, cabinet ministers and other public officials on allegations of corruption.
