Motley Crue singer Vince Neil reveals he suffered stroke last Christmas causing band to delay LA residency show

Los Angeles, Sep 13 (UNI) Vince Neil, the lead singer of the legendary 80s iconic heavy metal band Motley Crue, suffered a stroke last Christmas, resulting in the band having delayed their LA residency concert by months.
At the time, it was not known why Neil had opted out due to not specifying illness, pushing it from March 2025 to September.
"I had to learn to walk again, and that was tough," Neil told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "The doctors said they didn't think I'd be able to go back on stage again. I go, 'No, no, I'm gonna do it. Watch and see.'"
The band is scheduled to finally play its live gig after months of postponing their residency show.
Neil said he underwent months of physical recovery at his Nashville home. The recovery process was arduous.
"I went from people carrying me to the bathroom, because I couldn't walk myself, finally to a wheelchair," he said. "I graduated to a walker, and then I had a cane. Now I don't need anything. But it's like a full-time job getting back to where you feel good again."

Neil said he did not lose his voice when he had his stroke. Still, he had to work hard to rebuild the mind-muscle connection.
"It takes a while to get your brain to start moving your legs, for them to do what your brain wants to do," he explained. "You try to walk but it doesn't come out right."
On the mend for months, Neil partook in agility drills, and due to "a lot of running," Neil said he's now close to his pre-stroke condition.
"It's been tough, but I'm back, I'm 90, 95 percent to where I was before, and it's going to be great."
Motley Crue, well known for tracks like 'Live Wire', 'Girls Girls Girls', 'Wild Side', 'Shout At The Devil' are regarded as the pioneers of the glam metal movement which seized the 80s hard rock/metal scene in the US.
The movement saw rockers dressing androgynously, and writing hard edged tracks on sex, music, booze, drugs, though eventually died out in the 90's due to lack of appeal. The band is known as one of the highest selling bands of all time, having sold over 100 million albums to date.
Their 2001 autobiography 'The Dirt' – detailing their drug filled hedonistic lifestyle and its subsequent after effects - was given a cinematic adaptation in 2019 by director Jeff Tremaine, and starred actors Douglas Booth, Colson Baker, Daniel Webber and Iwan Rheon, as its four founding members.
