Mother among 3 arrested for selling baby for Rs 1L

Kolhapur (Maharashtra), April 17 (UNI) In a shocking incident, a mother was arrested along with two others for selling her one-year-old daughter to a couple in Goa for one lakh rupees.
According to Laxmipuri police, the woman was identified as Punam Deelip Dhenge has been living with her mother at Pattankodoli in Hatkanangale tehsil of this district for the past one year after being separated from her husband Deelip Vilas Dhenge.
It was the husband who informed the police after he came to know that his daughter was put for adoption without informing him.

Blaze erupts at Borivali West Skywalk, 2nd incident in 24 hours

Mumbai, May 23 (UNI) Panic swept through Borivali railway station following a fire that broke out on the skywalk adjoining the station’s western side. Eyewitnesses described sudden flames and sparks erupting from the structure, prompting commuters to rush to safety. No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident, a fire brigade official said on Friday.

Foreign scholarship scheme application deadline extended to June 6: Maha Minister

Mumbai, May 23 (UNI) The last date for submitting applications under the Foreign Education Scholarship Scheme for students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Nomadic Tribes (SC/NT), Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Special Backward Classes (SBC) in Maharashtra has been extended to June 6, according to State Other Backward Classes Welfare Minister Atul Save.
The deadline earlier was May 17, 2025.
