Morfydd Clark to portray Cynthia Lennon in Sam Mendes' 'Beatles' biopic

London, Feb 16 (UNI) Welsh actress Morfydd Clark has been cast as Cynthia Lennon in Sir Sam Mendes’ sweeping four-part biographical project chronicling the lives of The Beatles.
The 36-year-old actress, internationally recognised for her commanding turn as Galadriel in "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power", joins a high-profile ensemble assembled to chronicle the meteoric ascent and intimate lives of the iconic Liverpool quartet.
Starring Dickinson, Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan and Joseph Quinn, the four films will follow the lives and careers of the Liverpool band from each member's point of view.
The newly announced cast members also include Harry Lawtey, who recently played Welsh actor Richard Burton, and Bohemian Rhapsody star Lucy Boynton.
Clark’s role as Cynthia Lennon places her at the heart of Lennon’s early life. She met him while studying at art college in Liverpool; they married in 1962 on the cusp of the band’s meteoric ascent. Their son, Julian Lennon, was born the following year. Their marriage ended in 1968 following Lennon’s relationship with Yoko Ono. Cynthia Lennon passed away in 2015 following a battle with cancer.
Industry and Mr Burton star Lawety will play Stuart Sutcliffe, the band's original bassist, before he left in 1961, while Farhan Akhtar will portray famous Indian composer Ravi Shankar, according to BBC.
Boynton, best known for her role in Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, will play Paul McCartney's fiancée Jane Asher, who famously broke off their engagement during an interview on national TV.
They join James Norton and Harry Lloyd, with both actors already announced to play The Beatles' manager and producer. UNI NST SSP
