Monsoon rain triggers flood in Tripura, rendering hundreds of families homeless

Agartala, July 9 (UNI) The continuous rainfall over the last two days has led to significant flooding, landslides, and water accumulation throughout the state, impacting all eight districts. The India Meteorological Department predicts moderate to heavy rainfall in Tripura over the next 24 hours and has issued an Orange Alert for multiple districts.
As rivers swell, villages become submerged, and road access is interrupted, the administration has stepped up rescue and relief efforts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued an Orange Alert due to warnings of additional heavy rainfall.
Official reports indicate that close to 300 homes have been damaged across the state, with over 3,100 individuals relocated to 31 relief camps. However, as floodwaters extend into new regions, approximately 29 relief camps are currently housing displaced families in various areas of the state.
