Moily bats for immediate caste census, slams NDA for delay

Bengaluru , July 15 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister M Veerappa Moily today strongly pitched for the immediate implementation of a caste-based census in India, aligning with the stance repeatedly articulated by party leader Rahul Gandhi.
Speaking to the media ahead of AICC OBC Advisory Council meeting, Moily said, "Our leader Rahul Gandhi has made it clear at every platform that caste enumeration must be conducted alongside the national census."
Criticising the NDA government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their reluctance on the issue, Moily alleged that the Centre had stonewalled caste census efforts, claiming it would "divide the country". He pointed out that the government had conveyed to the Supreme Court that it would not proceed with caste enumeration as part of the national census.
