Mohanlal joins Prithviraj Sukumaran’s crime drama ‘Khalifa’

New Delhi, Dec 8 (UNI) Superstar Mohanlal has officially joined the cast of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s upcoming crime drama ‘Khalifa,’ which is set to release in two installments. Directed by Vysakh, the film will feature Mohanlal in the role of Mambarakkal Ahmed Ali.
The project will arrive in theatres with its first part, Khalifa: The Intro, targeting an Onam 2026 release. The second part, titled Khalifa: His Reign, will follow. The film is produced by Jinu V Abraham and Suraj Kumar under the banner of Jinu Abraham Innovation.
The makers introduced Mohanlal’s character through a newly released poster shared on Instagram.
The caption read, “Mohanlal is Mambarakkal Ahmed Ali! Meet the legend in Part 1. Know his bloody history in Part 2. Khalifa Part 1 – In cinemas Onam 2026. Vengeance will be written in GOLD… But before GOLD, there was BLOOD!”
Alongside the poster, the team also unveiled a “Glimpse” video from the film. The teaser showcases Prithviraj Sukumaran driving a luxury car and engaging in intense action sequences.
His character, Aamir Ali, is portrayed as an elite criminal who has evaded every police force and past Indian governments. The video ends with him smoking a cigarette after brutally overpowering a man on a bus.
The film’s music is composed by Jake Bejoy, with editing by Chaman Chakko.
