Modi govt committing ideological assassination of Mahatma Gandhi: Pramod Tiwari

Varanasi, Jan 12 (UNI) Congress deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, Pramod Tiwari, on Monday strongly criticised the Centre's Narendra Modi government over the alterations and rechristening of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), alleging that it amounted to the “ideological assassination” of Gandhi.
Referring to the government altering both the name and structure of MGNREGA, and renaming it the ‘Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural)’ (VB GRAM), Tiwari said, "I know that my statement may cause controversy. But what I am saying is absolutely correct and true. I am saying this with full responsibility and conviction that the Modi government is committing the ideological assassination of Gandhiji.
"Nathuram Godse committed the physical assassination (on January 30, 1948), and now the Modi government wants to erase Mahatma Gandhi's name and legacy through this scheme."
