MLA Sonawane demands 2,000-capacity leopard rescue centre amid rising attacks in Maharashtra

Nagpur, Dec 10 (UNI) The rising number of leopard attacks across Maharashtra has become a matter of grave concern. After incidents in Junnar, Ahilyanagar and Nagpur, a fresh attack took place in Alibaug, heightening the anxiety.
Spotlighting the urgency, Junnar MLA Sharad Sonawane drew attention during the Winter Session by arriving at the Assembly premises wearing a leopard mask today.
Speaking about the growing fear in the rural areas, Sonawane said, "We have installed solar fencing around our houses before stepping out. Our children no longer play in the courtyard or roam on the streets. They are even scared to go to school. Instead of multiple small measures, I fold my hands and request the Forest Minister to set up rescue centres that can house 2,000 leopards within the next three months — 1,000 males and 1,000 females — which will also help address the issue of sterilization."
